YHWH Bible Project
God revealed his name, YHWH (the English equivalent of the Hebrew letters), to Moses before leading the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt, but ever since the Babylonian exile of the ancient Israelites in 586 BC, the name of God has not been spoken by the children of Israel. In a feeling of shame, having turned their back on God, the Israelites started a practice of saying Adonai (Lord) or even simply Hashem (the Name) instead of saying the Biblical name of God.
Because of the long standing tradition of replacing the name of God, YHWH was replaced when the Bible was translated into English. This name was typically replaced with the word LORD all in capitals, but was also sometimes replaced by GOD.
This replacement of the name of God has created some confusion in English translations as other Hebrew and Greek words are also translated as God or Lord including, Elhohim, El, and Theos (transliterations of the Hebrew and Greek).
The YHWH Bible Project is a restoration project seeking to reintroduce the name of God to modern readers and add clarity to the different words behind God and Lord in English versions of the Bible.

The YHWH Bible Project is an initiative of For To Thru Ministries, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is supported entirely by contributions and volunteers.
If you would like to support this project, you can make a safe, secure tax deductible donation through our website or contact For To Thru Ministries for more giving options.
As a purely volunteer driven project, we would love your help. We are in need of editors, translators, and proof readers.
We are currently working on the King James Version as it is the most widely published version of the Bible in the English Speaking world.
With your help, we would like to create YHWH editions of every English Translation.
We hold the Holy Scriptures to be the God breathed, inerrant Word of God in their original manuscripts.
We believe that the name of God, YHWH, is immensely important as it appears over 6000 times in the Hebrew scriptures.
We desire to restore the name of God to our English speaking Bibles to restore clarity to the original text.
